Mon projet porte sur la compréhension des facteurs génétiques et environementaux déterminant la composition du microbiote intestinal au sein de la population du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Nous voulons identifier des marqueurs génétiques qui vont influencer la présence et l’abondance de communautés microbiennes au sein d’une population à triple effet fondateur. En ajoutant un aspect historique avec les généalogies des participants, nous allons pouvoir déterminer l’effet relatif de l’héritabilité, de l’environnement et de l’histoire dans les variations du microbiote chez des individus en santé.

My project’s aim is to comprehend the genetic and environmental factors determining gut microbiota composition in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean population. We want to identify genetic markers influencing the presence and abundance of microbial communities in a triple founder effect population. By adding historical aspect with the inclusion of participant’s genealogy, we can weigh the relative effet of heritability, environment and history in the variation of the gut microbiota composition in health .
